...puts flowers in your hair, & thus begins your nautical affair
America’s summer playground, wading in the Atlantic off the coast of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard is a great option for a day trip off The Cape. Just a short ferry ride from Hyannnis, or an even shorter plane ride, The Vineyard is a summer destination for many of the New England elite. Filled with massive summer estates, bursting with purple and pink hydrangeas. The island is outlined with ammophila filled sandy beaches and harbours abounding with white yachts and sail boats.
The Vineyard in some ways actually reminds me of The Florida Keys, with pastel restaurants on the harbour, such as Lobsterville Bar and Grille, where we stopped for lunch. Naturally I had clam chowder to start and a lobster roll for my main. New England, I miss your seafood.
Vineyard Vines, a preppy clothing store is the an integral part of the island’s dress code. I picked up one of their classic men’s t-shirts as well as the adorable ankle socks with pom-poms and their signature whale emblem.
The Vineyard's community of gingerbread houses is one of the most whimsical places I’ve ever been. One feels as though they've fallen through the looking glass to a storybook world. Each one decorated to suit the owners personality. The community adds a unique charm to the island!
