Today was a very relaxed day. We rose around 8:30 am and took a while discussing what we wanted to do. We decided to head one town over to Gloucester (pr. Gloster). It’s a very quick, ten minute drive from Rockport. Just outside of the downtown is a welcoming centre with a large parking lot, free on the off season.
We walked along the boardwalk where we saw the famous fisherman’s memorial, erected in memory of the fisherman who perished at sea.
They have quite a nice downtown with many shops. A good deal of them were not open on Sunday though. I recommend ‘Dress Code’ a consignment boutique with reasonable prices. For eight dollars I purchased a beautiful mint green, sheer 1960s style blouse with a peter pan collar.
I also bought some salt water taffy from Turtle Alley. I had some while taking a walk through the harbor, which was a nice touch to a New England vacation. The bag cost five dollars and comes with many different flavours.
For lunch we were recommended the Seaside Grille. The day was still nice enough to have lunch outside overlooking the harbor, with a beautiful view. I had the New England clam chowder with oyster crackers as an appetizer and it was delicious. I only had the cup size though and it nearly filled me up, leaving little room for my entrée. I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese with broccoli for my main course and hardly made a dent in it. I brought the rest home though since it was lovely and didn’t want it to go to waste.
Gloucester is a lovely little seaport to spend the day in and a great place for pictures. If you’re looking for that seaport, New England feel, you’ll find it here.
After our late lunch we went back down to T Wharf and Bearskin neck in Rockport to catch the sun set and check out a few of the little shops which were closed the previous night.

Unfortunately we depart tomorrow, I'm not quite ready for the vacation to end. We will have a lovely drive back home though. Since we head a bit north there is a lot to see and the fall foliage on the highway is beautiful. We're hoping to make a quick tour through Boston tomorrow on our route home.
